Can you believe it’s been a year since we started this website? Whew! The response to ThereIsLifeAfterBreastCancer.com has been spectacular and overwhelming!!!

We have 3 new contributions: a video from best-selling author Kelly Corrigan, Blinda Hritz talks about her mom and her “nothing too small” attitude, and our very own Margerie McNeill Manning shares another fabulous drawing about her experience at the ballet. Margerie also drew us a cake (above), as well as baked us a real one!

Research Opportunity for Adolescents and Young Adults

Research Opportunity for Adolescents and Young Adults with Cancer

The National Cancer Institute, in partnership with LIVESTRONG, is recruiting adolescents and young adults diagnosed with cancer to participate in a research study that tests a survey questionnaire about cancer and healthcare experiences. Individuals will be compensated $50 for participating.
We are looking for participants who:
• Are between 15 and 39 years old
• Were diagnosed with cancer within the past three years
• Can participate in a one-and-a-half-hour interview in Bethesda, Maryland

Interviews will be held in Bethesda, Maryland. If you live outside the area, the interview will be conducted over the telephone.

We are so excited! We would like to welcome Margerie Manning to our team here at There Is Life After Breast Cancer.com. Margerie has been an integral part of this website (in the background) from the beginning–offering support, advice, critiques, and her story (click here). You will also recognize her as our resident artist, which has earned her the title of Illustrator, as well as Breast Cancer Survivor. Margerie will be invaluable as we turn our website into a book series. Don’t worry - we aren’t going anywhere. We are just expanding to be able to bring you all that you deserve from survivors just like you. Be sure to read a bit more about us on our About Us page.

Our stories this week come from Melissa Swanson, who had a really busy three weeks; Ron Jobel who loves his wife and deals with all the bumps in the road of life; and Carol Pappas, our resident poet who talks about her bedtime ritual (it’s very funny). Please be sure to visit each of them as they share their story to help others cope.

If you are interested in sharing your story, for either the book or the website, please contact us to find out the guidelines. And please pass this along to other who may need some love as they go through their own war on cancer.

Spotlight on Janac Sportswear & 3 New Stories!

Life is good. Every day brings something new: a new story, a new survivor friend, flowers, and sunshine.

This set of stories brings yet another diverse bunch. We have Nancy Glasgow, who claims to be a late bloomer; Lee Arsenault - had never even broken a bone before she was diagnosed; and Tom Herrick - a husband (and prostate cancer survivor) deals with his wife’s diagnosis.

A few weeks ago, we featured Janet Cockburn’s survivor story, and for the next month, her company Janac Sportswear, will be featured as our spotlight company. Have you ever wondered who came up with the idea of Been-A-Boob® prosthesis? They feature mastectomy wear for the fighter and the survivor, and are giving a discount to our readers and contributors.

Be sure to visit each of them, and pass them along to others who might benefit from hearing other survivors and their loved ones stories.

Every day brings something new in my inbox. A new drawing. A new poem. A thank you from somebody www.ThereIsLifeAfterBreastCancer.com has helped enormously.

We have big plans for the site and are keeping on “keeping on”.

This new bunch of stories are from Tim Townley, a husband (mine!) who shares his thoughts on watching his soul mate deal with breast cancer, our very own Margerie Manning shares another drawing depicting paint and nipple charts (really!), and Cindy Papale, author of The Empty Cup Runneth Over, shares an excerpt from her book.
